Omicator

Bioinformatics • Data Analysis • Training

Omicator is raBIOm’s bioinformatics and data analysis service for researchers, biotech teams, and scientific organizations that need rigorous computational support without the overhead of building a full in-house team. We help turn biological data into clear, reproducible, and actionable results—from analysis strategy and pipeline development to interpretation, visualization, and research support. Omicator can also design custom training and consultation programs for your research teams.

What we do

We design and perform computational analyses tailored to your biological question, dataset, and research goals. We are focused on genomics and sequencing data and we are ready to support your analysis on common sequencing-based workflows or more complex experimental designs using next-generation sequencing to generate datasets. We can work together to perform a robust and reproducible analysis!

Pipeline Development

Build, optimize, document, and troubleshoot analysis pipelines using appropriate tools and current best practices.

Data Interpretation & Visualization

Translate complex computational results into clear figures, summaries, and biological insights that can support research decisions and communication.

Research Data Support

Provide flexible part-time or project-based computational support for academic labs, startups, and collaborative research teams.

Training – Become Computationally Autotrophic

Sometimes the best bioinformatics support is not doing the analysis for your team – it is enabling your team to do more of it themselves.

Omicator can design custom training and consultation programs for experimental biologists and research teams who want to become more independent in computational biology.

Rather than offering generic courses, training can be built around your team's actual research questions, datasets, workflows, and existing level of computational experience.

Sessions can cover topics such as:

  • Bioinformatics fundamentals for experimental biologists
  • Command-line and computational research workflows
  • Reproducible data analysis and organization
  • Genomics and sequencing analysis concepts
  • Understanding, running, and troubleshooting existing pipelines
  • Choosing appropriate bioinformatics tools
  • Interpreting computational outputs and quality-control metrics
  • Developing better communication between experimental and computational scientists
  • Guided analysis of your team's own datasets

The goal is to help local team members move from depending on a bioinformatician for every step toward confidently performing, evaluating, and troubleshooting more of their own analyses.

We call this becoming computationally autotrophic: building enough internal computational capability that your team can independently turn more of its own biological data into insight.

Omicator can still be there when deeper expertise is needed.

How we work

Omicator is designed to be lean, collaborative, and scientifically grounded. We start with the biological question—not simply the dataset or the tool. From there, we define an appropriate analysis strategy, implement the computational work, document the process, and communicate the results in a way that is useful to the research team. Depending on the project, support can range from a focused analysis or troubleshooting session to ongoing computational collaboration.

Built for scientific teams

Whether you are developing a research project, analyzing an existing dataset, validating an approach, or need additional computational capacity, Omicator can provide targeted expertise without requiring a permanent hire. Our goal is simple: make sophisticated bioinformatics more accessible, reproducible, and useful for real scientific decisions.
